BancNet, the country’s leading electronic banking network and Silversky, leading provider of cyber security solutions to the U.S. financial services industry, recently held the 2014 Securing Our Networks Conference at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati City. The Audit Committee event was attended by IT auditors and information security officers of BancNet’s member banks and affiliates. The forum focused on the prevailing IT threats landscape, lessons from past data breaches, trends in IT security , cloud computing, PCI-DSS compliance and recommendations on securing IT networks.
In his opening remarks, BancNet president Roberto P. Blas highlighted the need for security solutions and standards to keep pace with the growth in electronic delivery channels’ capabilities and reach on one hand and increasingly more sophisticated cyber attacks on the other hand. He cited two key security standards mandated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, namely the end-to-end Triple DES encryption and the EMV chip technology.
