Training sessions on InstaPay operations were conducted by BancNet at Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City recently, aimed at acquainting new employees of InstaPay partners with policies and processes related to InstaPay operations, while also serving as a refresher for seasoned professionals. The training was attended by two batches of representatives from 70 banks and non-bank e-money issuers, primarily those who handle InstaPay operations.
InstaPay is a real time payment service that runs on a worldclass digital payments system operated by BancNet. The service is offered by 92 financial institutions that include brick- and-mortar banks, digital banks, and e-money issuers or e-wallets through their mobile apps or websites.
The seminar was keynoted by Ms. Carmelita Araneta, general manager of Philippine Payments Management, Inc. (PPMI), who emphasized the importance of staying updated with the latest developments in InstaPay operations and regulations. As the digital payments industry self-regulatory body, PPMI oversees the InstaPay Automated Clearing House (ACH), one of currently two ACHs under the National Retail Payment System (NRPS).
InstaPay ACH Steering Committee chair Manuel Tagaza, who is also Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer at Chinabank, told the participants that each of them “plays a role in upholding the integrity of the InstaPay network—whether it’s minimizing downtime, resolving disputes quickly, or clarifying operational issues—we are all part of delivering a seamless user experience.” He also stressed that this training was important because trust in InstaPay “doesn’t happen automatically. It’s something we earn, maintain, and protect through consistent, reliable, and secure operations.”
Key topics discussed included InstaPay clearing and settlement, dispute handling management, and InstaPay’s performance and roadmap. These sessions provided valuable insights into the complexities of InstaPay operations and highlighted best practices to ensure efficient and secure transactions.
The participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills, and for providing a platform for alignment and sharing of experiences.
