BancNet has been appointed to the Financial Cyber Resilience Governance Council (FCRGC),
launched recently by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) at its Head Office in Manila. FCRGC is a
crucial body dedicated to pushing BSP’s cyber resilience agenda of promoting strong cybersecurity
measures, governance, and collaboration in the financial sector. This appointment underscores
BancNet’s hard work and commitment to fostering secure digital payments in the country as
clearing switch operator for ATM and real-time payments.
Under the chairmanship of BSP Deputy Governor Chuchi Fonacier, the Governance Council will
oversee the implementation of the Financial Services Cyber Resilience Plan (FSCRP) which BSP
launched in August 2024. The FSCRP outlines high-level goals and strategies to maintain the
integrity and security of the country’s financial system.
In this new role, BancNet will collaborate with other industry leaders to strengthen cyber defense and
resilience. Other Council members are the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP), Chamber of
Thrift Banks, Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines (RBAP), Philippine E-Money Association,
and Philippine Clearing House Corporation (PCHC).
BancNet is represented by its CEO, Emmie Reyes. She expressed optimism about the important role of the Council in overseeing industry initiatives to strengthen the cybersecurity of the country’s financial system. “I look forward to working with BSP and my esteemed industry colleagues to contribute to a safer digital financial environment for all,” she said.
